I’ve been trying to sell my MacBook on Craigslist and Kijiji and had an inquiry. After searching for the obviously Nigerian-style phrases in the second message, I sure wasn’t going to wait around to find out how you can get scammed by PayPal.

Gmail’s FAQ doesn’t even give a way to try and get the account pulled, only to report phishing through my own Gmail account. The full message headers are useless and only claim that the original message was sent through HTTP. I’ve reported the account using this page, which I found in the support forums.
Thanks for letting me know was selling antique couch /chair for $600 cd on Kijiji calgary (canada) got email about offering $800.00 (for quick sell) for me to take add off and he was an “oceanographer” he would pay with PAYPAL(ive never used it)
then get another message from him offering $700.00(for quick sell) and he’s a “Marine engineer” Hmmmm Scam much LOL
Omg…just about got scammed by “marine engineer” with a shipping company in Liverpool…wanting my tent trailer from BC Canada…seemed sketchy so I googled and found this sight…thank you for the responses…honest people helping honest people! 🙂
Same just happened to me with a Sofa I am selling for my Senior Citizen Mother. Some people just can’t stoop low enough.
They should burn in hell is right!
I am selling a doge truck on creigs listt and this is the email I got… . I’m ready to pay your asking price,i’m buying this for my Dad. But the issue is I’m a marine biologist and i am on sea right now. Due to my contract on the sea, there is strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea area. But I’m able to access my mail anytime as i will make use of wireless laptop. My Mode of payment is via PayPal as as i don’t have access to my bank account online, but i have it attached to my paypal account and this is why i insisted on using paypal to pay. I will be responsible for all the paypal fee/charges on this transaction and i will like you to get back to me with more pics if available, if you don’t have an account with paypal, its pretty easy, safe and secured to open one.Just log on to http://www.paypal.com I hope we can make the purchase as fast as possible.I have a mover that will be coming for the pick up once payment clears and they will be handling the title for me. So i look forward to hear from you soon.
And then they asked for my furm price and Paypal account. Does it sound like s scam or am I crazy.
I just received the same email in regard to a four wheeler I have for sale on Craigs List
Immediatly I came online to see if there were any other people getting these messages, glad I checked!!!

Yes it’s a scam. I hope you didn’t fall for it. (Thank you for posting ; I sent a copy of your post to a family member this afternoon before he got scammed.) Same guy contacted family member regarding the purchase of a used car. Family member told me about this earlier today & said he just wasn’t sure; but everyone told him Pay Pal is safe. The guy is also meeting his asking price with no dickering. After asking my opinion, I did a quick search online & then found your question. I called family member and asked if the guy out at sea with no way to phone was a marine biologist (M.B.) & he said yes. The story was basically the same as yours except he was purchasing a car for his son, not father & family member does not have a Pay Pal account either. My theory is, M.B. will either send a fake email from Pay Pal verifying the money is in your account or he will send the money via Pay Pal using a hacked Pay Pal Account. If the later, it can be transfered the money to your bank account – but – once Pay Pal finds out it was a hacked acct, they will debit your account for that amount. You will have no choice – you will have to return the funds or risk having your credit ruined. In the meantime, if you don’t return funds, Pay Pal will turn your account over to a collection agency. M.B. will sell your car to another buyer immediately. When you file police report, police will track your truck via vin no. Not sure what happens next cause you signed title over to another; but if someone buys a stolen vehicle, then he’s out the money & has to give vehicle up. You may have to travel half way across the country to get your truck back.
If you are still not sure, tell the guy to have his ‘agent’ bring you the CASH (no money orders or checks). M.B. can transfer money to agents account as well as to yours. If he trusts the ‘agent’ with the title and the truck, why not trust him with the money? If he says ‘agent’ doesn’t have a Pay Pal account – well, he should get one… Thanks again and thanks to everyone who posts regarding these scammers…
the same guy is trying to buy my boat the same friggin way!!!!!! it’s a suprise for his son….. this time he is a oceanographer. word for word the same.i am gonna tell him to bring cash!!!will let you know what is said!!!! soooo friggin glad i googled this
Family member wrote back and told M.B. aka oceanographer to have his agent/courier bring cash. Never heard from him again. Wish I had his username & email address to post…
No after you go through the whole spill they send you an email asking for shipment fees paid. Basically their scam is you pay them shipment before you ever receive a payment. Once shipment fee is received, they disappear and you’re still stuck with whatever you’re selling.
First Clue – who in their right mind would buy a USED vehicle sight unseen? Would you?
The guy who contacted me used the name Chris Peck, his email address was chrispecky03@gmail.com phone #601-983-8866. Hope the jerk gets his.
same thing happened to me, but i got a number cuz he texted my cell first. highest bidder gets it lol
Literally just recieved the same scam for my two subarus im selling bahaha thought they can pull one over me they thought wrong.
This guy just contacted me about a handicap van I had for sale on craig list, his name was Chris Peck. I had my daughter check this out and she found this site, I am lucky I didn’t fall into this. I was skeptical when I read it. I guess you have to be really careful even on paypay.
This is exactly what just happened to us today! We put our handicap vechile on craigslist yesterday and Chris Peck emailed saying he wanted to purchase asap. No haggaling, no pictures. To good to be true! SCAM!
I just got the exact same thing. Wow. I almost fell for it. thanks
These low life scumbags tried to buy my boat today. Posted it on Craigslist, got a reply from Deby Frank. Email addresses were frankdeby002@gmail.com & frankbarack234@gmail.com.Just too darn busy to come view a 34 year-old boat but willing to pay $6k and send a courier to take care of it for him. He also asked me to use Paypal because it was “the fastest and most secure way to pay.” I told him I was in no hurry and would be happy to meet his courier with $6k in cash at the bank. Everything about the email was suspicious (grammar, no dickering over the price, too busy to meet in person, etc). I’ll keep the boat and enjoy a few more days at the lake, praying that others don’t fall prey to these thieves.
I’m glad I saw your post! I just received an offer from the same guy, and it sounded so strange!
Have a nice day!
Cin
i have a question im selling something in cragslist for 5000 the women offerd 5750 and the extra was for me to send western union once that happens paypal will reinburse the total. is it a scam
This is a SCAM! I had almost the exact message from an “offshore engineer” or so he called himself. Do not do this by any means, cash or money order IN PERSON ONLY!
We had almost identical experience, trying to sell camping equipment on Gumtree.
A ‘marine engineer’ working offshore, who would pay more than the asking price to secure the goods.
The only catch was transferring $850 to his ‘courier’ – in China before we would be credited with our money.
Discontinued communication immediately. An obvious scam.
cash or money order IN PERSON ONLY! RE money orders they are printing up fake money orders everyday now even fake postal money orders ,and if they claim they will wire transfer the money to your account ,then they just deposit a counterfit check and the funds show up in your bank account ,then 10 days or weeks later the bank calls and the check/money wire transfer is fake no good and your responsible for everything = Take cash only wear your body armor and pack your 38spl with hallow points .and check every bill real good ,good fortune and god bless buyer / seller beware !
i just had the same thing happen to me i had posted on kijiji that i had 2 snowmobiles for sale and i wanted 800 for them a guy by the name of tom miller replyed to me saying that he would offer me 950 for them but he had to use paypal to pay for them and also added another 500 for to pay for his agent to pick them up because he was working at sea and could not come pick them up and come to find out i was to pay the 500 out of my own pocket for his agent so i would have lost 500 if i would not have cought it
Yes it is! No one usually offers more then asking price! Please do not fall for it!!!
Almost fell for this scam. Your statement from buyer was almost identical to the one sent to me. Thanks
In the middle of what sounds like a scam right now, I’m selling my karaoke machine with 20,000 songs, I was asking 4000 for speakers, amp, the whole set up, he is offering me 4650 for me to take ad off kijiji and he wants to make pymt via paypal right now, he is very busy with work and can’t come see the machine, but he is satisfied with my explanation of it, he also has his own personal courier driver who will pick up machine once purchase is made so there is no shipping cost!… I emailed him back and said no I’d only accept certified cheque or cash…. He then replied saying he insisted on paypal because his bank account is linked to paypal, he doesn’t have online banking nor does he have cheques…. Then once again asks me my paypal account so he can make the transfer right now!… I had to google this cause my husband keeps telling me… Scam scam scam but it’s looking like he’s right
Most definately a scam, no matter how badly you may want to sell an item its not worth getting ripped off! Good on you for doing your reasearch though, it just saved you a kareoke machine!
never wire money for any reason = SCAM RIPOFF ha ha why cant they pay send shipping fee / money to the shipper / courier themselfs .because its a scam .certified check you say ill print you one up in a jiffy ,and the bank will accept it and the funds will be in your bank account untel weeks later when the counterfit check is discovered. then you will be held responsible for everything.Tell them when your in jail that someguy mailed it to you shure they will say .how do we know that = jail time att fees and a lifelong criminal record for counterfiting check !
Thank you so much!!! My email was identical basically.
Hi! got smth like that this morning. Feeling a scam. But here is the question: how will they scam you using paypal??? i mean, once money is in the account and cleared you got the deal, isnt it? It is not like they sent me a bad check and asked to refund the extra part.
If there is a fraudulent transaction, PayPal will yank the money back from your account. If you’ve already withdrawn it to your bank, they will put your account into a negative balance and eventually send collections after you. Nothing is ever “cleared” with PayPal as long as you have an account with them.
I have already given this guy my PayPal Name and account name. No other information. How can I turn this scam off?!?!?!?
The guys name is Rock Bill, rockb32@gmail.com. He is trying to buy my motorhome but is out on an oil rig. He is going to send the money via PayPal and after the transaction, I am to send $4K to the shipping company using Western Union. I go sucked in until I read you blog. I gave the !@!@#$#$ my name and account name only so I’m waiting to see what happens. I told him to stop so we shall see.
OMG LOL you send 4K to the shipper = TOTAL SCAM why cant he pay for his own shipping .= 100% scam 100% of the time.i suppose a truck full of ground nut oil overturned on him so you have to pay the shipping .who falls for these people omg. i send them chaseing all over the country for fake western union money tranfers every chance i get.i one time sent the scammers all over texas for two days they kept calling and i would send them on anouther wild goose chase ,for the big money wire transfer .lol
You wrote: “I have already given this guy my PayPal Name and account name. No other information. How can I turn this scam off?!?!?!?”
Simple. If the guy sends the money anyway, there’s a button/link in Paypal for you to refund/refuse the money (or cancel the transaction, or something like that).
I had the same response for an item listed on craigslist,
He wanted my paypal info and would have a courier service
Pick up. He was unable to view. Buying it for his son as
A surprise. I said no, I would olnly deal in person.
I was selling my truck and am SO happy that I read this first. This is the EXACT same thing that was sent to me. He said it was a suprise for his son and didn’t want his son to know until it arrived for him..
Guy offered me asking price since he was satisfied with the description without looking at the item but had a “picker” to pick it up after the transaction since he couldn’t look at it himself. Glad i looked this up!
I too am confused on how they can scam you using paypal? Everything is suppose to be secure and they protect you. I would like more info on how this is possible. I have someone interested in a bracelet I have for sale and wanted to use paypal. Please help!! I don’t want to get ripped off!!
Hi. They scam you by making you believe the money is going into your paypal acct. but the emails from “paypal” are fake, they are after teh money you are sending to them via western union. In peoples desperation is seems like a sure thing.
Now they have 500$ of yours and you have your item, no buyer and no 500$
There is no money being held for your account…the e-mails that you receive from PayPal are fake. You send the money to an”agent” and it’s adios to your cash. The confirmations are fake.I just opened an account the day of the scam and had not activated it yet,yet I was receiving confirmations of a pending transaction to the name of my account, not the name that the real PayPal welcomed me with earlier in the day!
For details on how the PayPal end of scams works, visit my latest post:

hi im selling my truck on craiglist. a guy is supposedly in the military and want to buy this for his father. he is was gonna pay by paypal to my fathers account do to me not having one. he said he didnt bring his creditcard and wanted me to help him send a western union to his carrier to pick up the vehicle. he is going to send me the money for the truck and western union and the cost of the western union. once comfirmed by paypal, he said i can sent the western union….. what is your input?
Hi, this same thing happened to me selling an xbox 360. They sent me a fake payment through paypal. They faked the paypal email and screwed me over. I am now out $230, anything I can do?
Wow you guys and again got email last night staing yet another oceanographer(damn they must love kijiji lol) anyhow i also thought if i go through with it “PayPAL” is out the money not me cause the money would b in my account and i wouldnt surrender anything unless the money was directly in my bank account so i wouldn’t lose but the truth is if these guys are sending out fake pay pal things then thats how u get scamed. They werent asking for any money for western union back.
I just want to know how we can turn the tables on these ASSHOLES??????
Hi I was just wondering anyone who paid money to the courier to start did you get another email saying you have to send even more money to hime before World Shipping Council Agent Online will come get it?
I was selling a DSLR camera on Craigslist and got a couple replies following pretty much the same template outlined above: request for PayPal or bank transaction, Nigeria or vague “oversea” address, present for a relative, awful spelling and grammar, urgency in completing the transaction.
Thanks so much for this post; hopefully less people get scammed if they have the common sense to run a Google search before doing any business online.
FYI – I don’t know much about this high tech stuff but Rock Bill(Rockb32@gmail.com) tried to get me to use paypal for a payment for some tools and during the conversations back and forth I received one of his messages from an email address of jacknorman90@gmail.com. Don’t know if this will help someone else or not. Look out…
Thanks for the warning. I received an “I’m interested” email from jacknorman90@gmail.com yesterday. Good to know not to waste my time replying.
Just want to report another used vehicle paypal scam similar to the ones on this blog. I posted an ad on Kijiji selling my truck and got a reply very quickly expressing interest from the address cscherz@gmail.com. The buyer insisted on using paypal, and also insisted the shipper would only accept payment through Western Union money transfer. Similar to the other cases, the person insisted that he was in a remote location and he couldn’t make it to a Western Union to pay the shipping fees, so he asked me to do it. The person then sent a fake paypal email stating that funds ($$ for the truck plus $2K for the shipping expenses) were released to paypal, and that I would receive those funds upon providing paypal with a scanned copy of the money transfer receipt from Western Union. The scam is that I was asked to front the initial $2k for the shipping costs. It is worth noting that the fake paypal had the return address tobybenson81@sify.com. So, beware the following:
1. The names/email addresses i’ve mentioned (cscherz, tobybenson81)
2. Poor grammar and spelling consistently across all communications. Legitimate PayPal emails should not be fraught with spelling and grammar mistakes. The fake emails are very similar to the real ones, just have to watch for the subtle differences, such as reply address. When using paypal, always review their section on how to avoid scams and frauds.
3. Using Paypal in combo with Western Union
4. Beware of maggots and thieves!!
Wow, I’m glad I wasn’t one of those poor people out there that get scammed! So I’m trying to sell my Samsung galaxy tablet through Craigslist n this person text me pretty much the same thing u posted on this blog, what gave him/her right away for me though was that he wanted me to ship it for him to Nigeria he said he would add an additional $100 to my price if I sent it right away because it was for a nephew’s birthday and than he also said he would pay for the international shipping but I had to do it n he would add all the money trhough PayPal only
I just received a text from some lady wanting to buy my headphones on craigslist. Apparently she said her name was Kelly Hofland out of new york and she wants me to answer her call from her business with a 2 digit number she gave me. Im thinking wth… So ignore her call and look online to come to this page and just in relief i didnt give that chick any info. Are the scam artists getting that desperate to start texting people or what? I dont know but thank you for the info bout the paypal fraud never tried selling it on there. Thanks guys!!!!!!!
Hi all, found this reading quite interesting. I am selling a car and had an email very much like some of the ones that have been described in this blog. This is what it read:- “Ok,good..I’m quite satisfied with the condition and price. I will be paying the PayPal charges from my account and i will be paying directly into your PayPal account without any delay, and i hope you have a paypal account. If you have one already, just send me the address to send it to, which is the email address you use for it or you can send me a paypal money request, so once i receive the details i will go ahead with the payment through PayPal and then i will contact my shipping company after you get the payment. I will need your home address for it to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company…”
I was already aware of scammers in this sort of way, but thought i would read a bit more and stumbled on this blog. Needless to say i will not give anyone my personal details or paypal details. After reading this blog i thought i would post the contact email address of what i believe to be another scammer. “Kent607@gmail.com”
Hope no one gets caught out, Stuart
OMFG!! he copied and pasted the exact same email to me this morning! What a ****er!!! Damn ! I knew someone wanting to buy a car without coming to see it had to be weird?!!
***SCAM*** I received exactly the same message as you have Stuart from Patrick Reymer using email Kent607@gmail.com yesterday to try and purchase my car. So glad i stumbled across this blog.. Even my little boy thought this didnt sound right so i dont know how theyre getting away with it!!
Thanks
kent607@gmail.com also tried to scam me buying my car. i have reported him to paypal and sella. he still has the nerve to txt and ask if i received the money after the police contacted him about my complaint..what a dick..and thats sugar coating it haha
Had 2 people within 2 weeks offering to buy my Mercedes, sight unseen, smelled a rat straight away and googled kijiji paypal scam and saw dozens of links.. its a shame that goodhearted people are sometimes naive also.. Alan
same here. Posted my car for sale on Gumtree. So far three enquiries. One from marine engineer on rig offshore, the other in a submersible and the third buying for uncle who lives in malaysia. OMG. They all want to pay paypal and have a courier collect vehicle. How do they actually scam? Can they take money from Paypal. Or do they ask for money during transaction? So DODGY!!
Thanks for this blog, the SAME email address just contacted me today about the car! Exactly the same wording etc!
Calling himself Vincente, @ Vicente Zorita Ana Isabel kent607@gmail.com
I smelled a rat and googled the email address! Thank you so much!
Don’t touch this scam with a barge pole.
Same here, kent607@gmail.com contacted me via text message. He asks if the car is still available and tells me to reply to kent607@gmail.com.
My scam bells started ringing so i googled the address, thank you people for confirming my suspicion.
I’d like to add that my car is for sale in the Netherlands. So they are trying to scam people internationally.
I’ve also received a text from patrick reymer if my car is still for sale (in The Netherlands). If I can contact him on his mail address kent607@gmail.com. I’ve responded 2 times, but had some doubt, so I googled his name and see this…
Thank you for the information, he send me a sms message. He asks if my instrument on dab is still available and tells me to reply to kent607@gmail.com
So my scam bells started to ring like yours, and I also googled the email address. So thank you for confirming my alarm bells.
I am selling my car and have posted an ad on gumtree and today I received the exactly the SAME email as you did!Which is:
Ok,good..I’m quite satisfied with the condition and price. I will need your home address for it to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company..
I thought it sounded dodgy…thats why I searched it. The email address of the scammer is :dahl12@live.com
i got the same message from a garcia jenkins this morning saying she was interested in my car and she would pay asking price on it. it was posted on craigslist and she said that the ABC shipping company would pick it up and i thought it sounded pretty phony so i told her i will be having this number tracked by law enforcement and she never replied
the exact same e-mail was sent in response to a used car sales ad in Finland. the address it was sent from, was dahl12@live.com as well. be careful and use your common sence, if someone wants to buy your car without seeing it, google the contact information at least before going through with the transaction. it most likely is a scam
dahl12@live.com wanted to buy my car, too! 😉 What a waste of time – geez! Thanks for posting all this info.
Selling an item on Craigslist and was emailed by a Richard Blake to purchase by PayPal. I asked for more info on him and he ignored my request and again asked for my PayPal info. I emailed him Craigslist policies and that I do not accept PayPal and that cash is all I would accept is cash in person. Waiting for response. I am not brand new as my sister-in-law likes to quote…lol
I told them I wanted to buy a car, and they told me the price is 1700.00 and car is at a shipping place in VA. They said they would pay the 1000.00 shipping charge. So they are going to sell me a 2002 Altima for basically 700 bucks. Do they think IM STUPID? I told them I was interested in purchasing it, and to give me their account number and I’d have the money wired to their account. Ya right I am going to call whoever I need to get them shut down.
OH ya and this person’s name is Vanessa Raymond that moved to Portugal with her job and her family. Se was hoping tot ake the vehicle there but when she found out the shipiing and registration would be ive changed my mind. LMAO ya right. The VIN number on this car is 1N4AL11D42C133080 AND ONLY HAS 64K MILES. WHAT A DEAL HAHA…IF ANYONE CAN LOOK UP THIS VIN THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!
I’m selling a bike on Kijiji – here is an email from a scammer:
Thanks for getting back to me on here,i will take it for $13800 including PayPal surcharges since i am interested in the immediate purchase.I just moved to the Malaysia, where this is needed and i will be making use of a shipping company to have this picked up from you and have it delivered to me.Further arrangements will be made with you in regards to the pickup once i have paid you.
I would appreciate if you email me with more pictures (if available) too since i won’t be able to see this in person, what’s the PayPal email to send funds to in order for me to pay you ASAP.
BE AWARE
Exact same thing with me Melanie. Copy and paste below.

back from you. The registration may take up to 3 minutes and your
email address that you use is the same as your paypal email ID which i
need to transfer the fund to.
Just had the same thing as you guys for the most part. Buyer said almost word for word the same things as you had described. He sort of shot himself in the foot because he used two different emails from the same domain and said the same thing in each but slightly different wording. Both were adamant about the use of paypal.
Most importantly here, what I would like to know is how can the seller be scammed out of the goods if someone is transferring money INTO your account? How is thier benefit gained?
hi dwayne
My theory:
they will send you fake emails from paypal, pretending, that you got the money… very likely they will include a text like: “you can check out your paypal balnce right now http://www.paypal.com” the link will take you to some fake paypal site… in worst case: they will even get your paypal password, and rip you off!
Omg thank god i looked this up only reason i did is because i got 2 emails from DIFF ppl apparently basically saying the same thing the first one said…. Hi,
Thanks for the prompt response and please do consider me as the buyer. I am ready to buy it now as a birthday gift for my brother in-law. Though, I am on the sea at the moment as I am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone call making and visiting of website are restricted but I just have to squeezed out time to check this advert and decided to contact you regarding it. I really want the car to be a surprise package for brother in-law so I won’t let him know anything about the car until it gets delivered to him, I am sure he will be more than happy with the car. I insisted on PayPal as my mode of payment because I don’t have access to my bank account online and also, I don’t have internet banking, but I can pay from my PayPal account. I have my bank account attached to my PayPal account, so I will need you to get back to me your PayPal email address and your final price so I can make the payment asap for the car. Also, in your response, Please include your phone number again in case I misplace the one I have so I can send you a text as soon as the payment is sent via PayPal.
Nevertheless, if you don’t have a PayPal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to http://www.paypal.com and get it set up, after you have set it up I will only need the e-mail address you used for the registration with PayPal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the car up after I have made the payments for the car.
My Regards.
And then the second email said….
Thanks for the swift response and do as well advise on the least amount you will like to give it away as i am buying this for Dad and due to the nature of my job and location…i will not be able to come for inspection,am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it.
As for the payment..i can only pay via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal) here.
I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made …so no shipping included and With the issue of my details, transferring the name of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by the courier services company agent so you don’t have to worry about that.
You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply. If you don’t have a paypal account, you can easily set up one…log on to http://www.paypal.com.au and sign up its very easy… i would have loved to talk to you on phone but i work mainly offshore, our phone is down on the rig right now due to bad weather, that was why i sent you a text, i even wonder how my message deliver to your phone but for now we can only communicate through the same mailing channel.await your reply asap.

I just want to know more about it to make sure its in good condition
so can you assure me i will not be disappointed???And also ,I need to
inform you about this, just received an email from my pick agent…am
most sure i did not include that in my previous email,They said they
won’t come for the pick up unless i pay him the agent commission fee
first in order to be able to schedule a pick up time.I am a Chief
Engineer as my position on the sea here,I am so busy and can not pay
the agent fees from here as they Requested that i pay them with Money
Gram.So what i will do here is that i will send the payment in the
total amount of $4,300.So once you receive the confirmation of the
payment from PayPal,you will deduct the promised amount for the good
which is $3,300 and the remaining $1,000 will be send down to my agent
By Money Gram.I have tried to paid it direct here but there is no
Money Gram on the ship,So i believe you can handle this for me.
Get back to me so that i can go ahead and send the payment now

Hello,
Thank you for getting back to me.Can you assure me that it’s in
good state and that i will not be disappointed with it.I’m ready to
pay your asking price and to be honest, i wanted to buy this for my
son, but the issue is i am an oceanographer and i do have a contract
to go for which starts today and am leaving any moment from now.The
contract is strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea
area. But I’m able to access email anytime as we will make use of
laptop so my only quickest payment option is PayPal as i can send
money via PayPal anytime.Since I’m requesting this transaction to be
done via PayPal, i will be responsible for all the paypal fee/charges
on this transaction and if you don’t have an account with paypal, its
pretty easy, safe and secured to open one. Just log on to
http://www.paypal.com. I hope we can make the purchase as fast as possible? I
have a mover that will come for it once payment clears and they will
take care of very necessary paper for me. So i look forward to hear
from you soon.
Many Thanks

BE AWARE!!!1
Hey!
So get this. I posted a watch online. Someone decided they wanted it. Paypal now needs a tracking number before they will send money across? This was my first point of hesitation.
Second the guy accidentally sent an extra $500 but its being held by paypal and they won’t send the original money through until I refund him the payment that was extra.
Why is PayPal doing this?
Why can’t they send him the $500 back and me my payment? Don’t they have control of these things?
Help
What I’ve read so far, sounds like they have sent you a fake paypal invoice and sent you to a fake paypal website. If you’ve logged into the fake one, you may have inadvertently disclosed your paypal password. You might want to monitor your account activity for anything suspicious. If your being asked to return money to them, I would say you’re definately being scammed.
The best way to avoid getting scammed via paypal (aside from cash only deals) is to request the buyers paypal account number and submit a request for payment yourself. Look up paypal scams on youtube for some interesting videos on it. Good luck.
Received the same type of email from an engineer on an off shore oil rig wanting to purchase my trailer through Paypal. Same type of email as mentioned above. I told him that I would only do business in person and for cash.
I’ve got the same e-mail trying to sell my car . What should we do about it ? where can we complain about this scam ? just report e-mail address to spam ? it’s not enough !
Hi there!!
Im selling my car on the internet and i got a reponse on my cell from a guy called Chris With the e-mail dahl12@live.com the guy said in the text message he was interested in my car and that he was waiting for my response and he also said pls, i found that weard so i searched on the internet for his e-mail and i found this web page .
So can someone tell me if this is a fraude? and if is there a problem replying 2 him? will he be able 2 do something just with my e-mail address?

Same chap, “buying” my boat – I do not answer. Hopefully you did not either.

The phone number, if it’s real, goes to Romania. Would not recommend trying to call into it.
We have received exactly the same…
A Guy called Chris Dahl that is interested in our boat:
“Thanks for your response.Am interested in buying. How long have you owned it?? what’s your actual price for it and when last was it serviced?.”
I’m sure that is a scammer!!
I posted a blackberry on kijiji.ca , got a very fast reply to my ad by text message, he offered to pay via paypal and to give me $100 to ship out west.
I said I don’t use paypal and he or she offered a bank transfer. I said I would not give my account # and he kept trying for offering to deposit the money and then after I could ship. I said no thanks.
But I want to thank everybody that posted this it was great help.
The number used to text me is from NY 646-389-6329
I was selling a motorcycle on craigs list and received this email which is very similar to what I have been reading. Got suspicious so I looked up being scammed with Pay Pal.

Just want to keep this thread alive, obviously names and emails are made up by the scammers, but hoping to keep others from the very near scamming I avoided today!
Details this time, adexco001@gmail.com, Adexco Mathew. Paypal payment for Car on Auto trader.
I posted an item on CraigsList to try and sell my phone that im no longer using. Soon after I recieved an email from a “Deborah Smith” asking if I was still selling my phone, and that she wanted to purchase it for someone in Nigeria. She said she would pay me the $150 I was asking as well as $75 more for the shipping costs. Soon after I received an email from a “john akeemu” wanting to buy my phone for $100 more than my asking price. He also wanted me to send it to Nigeria for a “cousin.” Everything seemed a little etchy to me so I googled it and found this site. When i tell the buyer the transaction can not be completed, they try and intimidate you….do not do a sale unless it is in person with cash!!!!!!!!!
the emails these people used:
johnakeemu3@gmail.com
deborah.smith925@gmail.com
Hope this helps you guys!!!
Look out for a Kathy Smith kat.kat.058@gmail.com…… She’s in the us navy out at sea . Wants to buy a present for her son and can only use Paypal…
This has happened to me recently! with the exact same situation. What do I do?
Trying to sell a boat. Some man saying he is a marine biologist so he can’t see the boat. He will pay full price for boat even when we said we would take less, wants us to open up paypal account and he will send someone to get boat, I think this is a scam but my hubby doesn’t, have any of you ever had something similar happen.
It is a scam hun deal with cash only with them if u read this thread thr common link is out at sea doing something I myself had a marine lady wanting to buy my car for her son
Brandie. Deffinately scam.
WTF are all these people doing surfing the classifiedds when out to sea. I know that’s what I’d be doing. Buzz words: agent, western union, over payment, confide, or any word that is not used regularly just chalk it up to them scamming Nigerians. We be scamming!
Hi Dahl rocks !
I’m from Finland and selling my boat, got this today:

Sorry about the finnish there, but wanted to keep it original. The phone number is to Romania, asked my friend to look it up if she can do it safely. 😉 Not answering to Mr. Dahl anyway 😉
oops… sorry, the number is not Romanian – slipped my fingers, my bad and my apologies, but the case remains the same.
Same BS happened to me today, a person who calls himself/herself Rose Jones offered to send me a paypal payment for a Piano I was selling off of Kijiji, Initially I agreed by providing my paypal address, soon after she asked me to pay $700 out of pocket to western union to “complete” the transfer, YA thats NOT happening. At that point I realized that this was not legit, the deal was off and she has since sent a couple of emails threatening “legal action” would be taken since her fake paypal payment was non refundable lol, the email address is rosejones3089@ymail.com be careful people!
I thank God for all that I’ve read about these scammers. As I posted an ad for a car on Gum Tree last night, and not quite 30 minutes of this being posted, I received a text from a guy, asking me for the lowest price I was willing to accept and if I could reply by email to France.williams115@gmail.com
I replied to this email address, to read that he was a Marine Engineer working off shore, and was buying the car as a surprise for his son. He could only pay by Pay Pal, as he couldn’t access his account through on line banking and he would arrange for an Agent to pick up the car once the transaction was finalised.
I was very unsure and uneasy about this, and with all things, I prayed and was lead to this site, only to read so many accounts of others receiving similar messages, and some unfortunately falling into the hands of these wicked people. I thank God that I shall not be responding to this very sad person, and pray that many others are directed to this site before they arrange any transaction deals.
What’s even sadder, is that many of them are Nigerians, and myself am also Nigerian, but would never in my life stoop to such low and dispicable tactics. Lord Jesus I pray, that You keep exposing all these scammers and get them saved , least they truly do go to hell.
Basically exact same email I got about my car on gum tree diff email address thouvh
Hi stu, thanks for your mail, consider it sold to me alone as i am serious with this.I would like you to know that am really interested in buying this,However, I will not be able to come for inspection, all i need is your word of sincerity that the item is in good condition as described and don’t worry about the pick up,my shipping agent will be coming to pick it up as soon the money had been credited into your account . I’ll like you to send me your address so that my shipping agent can figure it out and come for the pick up and other necessary things….more so,send me your PayPal details (PayPal name & email address)so that i can arrange for the payment as soon as possible today and thanks for your eloquent transaction……cheers.

Thanks all for sharing…I had initial reservations but the clincher were these identical emails.
Same guy – Here’s the email that he sent to me regarding an executive desk that I have listed on Craigslist:

SCAMMERS!!!! LETS PUT A STOP ON THESE PEOPLE.
I just gave a paypal acc# to someone wanting to buy something on CL. is there anything scammers can do with this info to access my account? Not sure if its legit. after reading all these other scams, Im pretty worried.
I talked to a guy on CL he was selling buddy passes for southwest. I left him my number and he called me on a phone. Told me his name, talked about what he was selling, then after the phone call we texted and such and I eventually set up a paypal account on the real site and it had an invoice for me from the guy so I put my debit card down for the payment. I then texted him and said the payment is set and he said ok I’ll send the tickets out tomorrow. Two days later I got mail from the guy his name on the package no return addresse but it said it was shipped from
Florida (I innitially talked to
Him he was listed in LA), and in the package was a letter saying “paypal told me not to
Send the tickets until the money came through”. To this day he no longer responds to calls r

Here is another good example from Craigslist and the scammers email: D F James
Hi There,
Thank you for getting back to me, can you assure me that it’s in good condition because I don’t want to be disappointed buying this from you. I’m ready to pay your asking price but due to the nature of my work, I’m not in state so i will not able to come for the inspection, sorry for that but I’m able to access email anytime as I’m making use of PDA, i have a pick up agnet that will come for the inspection and the pick up, the only quickest payment option is PayPal, I make the payment via PayPal since I’m requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, i will be responsible for all the PayPal fee/charges on this transaction and if you don’t have an account with PayPal, its pretty easy, safe and secured to create. I have a Pick Up Agent that will come for the Inspection and take care of every necessary paper for me. the Pick Up Agent will also handle the pick up after i have send the money to your PayPal account.
I need the address where the agent will meet you and your PayPal email address so i can send the money now.
D F James tried to buy my vehicle this morning. He is still using the EXACT same email message. Glad I did a little research and thankful he recevied no info from me. What a scammer!!!!!
so just letting you all know to watch out for anyone with the email salvycole@gmail.com, or agentsandrhnraiyan@accountant.com, as well as anyone trying to “buy” something from you and with the address

This person claimed to be buying the ring i tried to sell on craigslist for their “cousin”, i noticed they tend to be in a hurry and end their sentences with lots of…………………………..! so watch out!!!
they tried to get me and failed.
Hi Guys,
The same thing happened to me yesterday about our caravan. The bloke said that he was a marine engineer and was buying it for his son and that an agent will come pick it up. He insisted that he pay through paypal, I said that I would only accept bank cheque or direct deposit. Please honest people beware, don’t get conned.
bank check ill print you one up in 5 min ,direct deposit easy they direct deposit a counterfit check into your bank at any location ,then the funds are in your account ie appeir as ele money transfer ,then two weeks later your bank calls when the counterfit check has been discovered and your responsible for everything .be shure to tell them that some guy mailed it to you or deposited it into your account when your in jail.yes thats rite you lost the money and you go to jail not the mystery scammer.i have a collection of counterfit checks from scammers they look perfect i would be rich if they were real .i have one for 16,000,00 mailed to me from canada,i like to act like i cashed the check and say to the scum scammer what you going to bo bout it punk im keeping your money ,ha ha lol
Would you give me your routing # and bank account # for direct deposit ? then i can derect deposit a fake check ,then print up checks using your account info ,and spend like crazy for 10 days – two weeks and you will be again held responsible. i buy from auctions and sell autos, big R.V.s ect i always demand cash, were my point blank body armor, pack my 38spl ,and have a trusted friend in the next room with a 12 +OO buck.,your friend has to wait outside i tell um ,had a Bguy buy a corvett for 9500.00 cash then his partner goes for a 9mm. was his last mistake what a mess .i slept like a baby that nite…
A scammer was trying buy a lap top I had listed on Craigslist for 200 for 400 plus shipping. Then they told me they would pay using their husband’s paypal account and that she was out of town. So I asked her if she lived in my town and she said yes and then I asked her for her phone number. Looked up the area code it was for california! Not Indiana! Where I’m from. Then she went on to say that she needed the laptop quick for her son studying over sea and I said I do not accept paypal. Only cash in person and the person sent me a link to paypal with “directions” on how to set one up. I checked the site out and it was a fake. All the links were dead ends. So not only did I give them a piece of my mind but I reported their info to paypal and hacked the shit out of their website. Now when someone types in any information it won’t let them submit it. Which means the scammers aren’t doing much scamming with that site anymore.
SCAMMERS DIE YOU ROTTEN PIECES OF SHIT!
Wow i definitely just saved myself a video camera. Thank you google search.
who falls for these scams i feel sorry for them.everytime i post big stuff on craigslist i get a few of these you pay for the shipping / couier scammers..i like to copy forge fake western union / money gram ect and send them driveing all over.one time i had these scammers driving all over texas for 2 days.they kept calling and i kept sending them on anouther wild goose chase , it was a blast it was rilly so much fun waisting thir time. i fugure when i keep them busy they have less time to ripoff poor victims…
I think I was trying to be scammed this morning actually. A lady who worked away wanted to buy my Wii console that I advertised on Gumtree. She said she wanted to pay for it immediately and just get her courier to come and pick it up once the funds had cleared. She asked for further details about them item for sale, so i emailed a long description. Then not 1 minute later, i got a reply from her with 2 whole paragraphs of text. Unless you’re Wonder Woman I doubt you can type that fast you filthy mole! But now reading all this stuff I now know it was a scam, so i cancelled my paypal request money invoice and deleted all the emails and all contact. I just want to sell my item god damn it! Stop scamming innocent people!!!!…so angry right now!
I have about 5 emails from different accounts all named Flora Becker.
They are certainly getting more creative:
I insisted on paypal because i don’t have access to my bank account online as i don’t have internet banking and i can’t go to the bank due to the nature of my job, but i can pay from my paypal account,
as i have my bank a/c attached to it,i will need you to give me your paypal email address so i can make the payments asap for the item and pls if you don’t have paypal account yet,
it is very easy to set up, go to http://www.paypal.ca and get it set up , after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through
Just got a Flora Becker eMail regarding a Kijiji item and wanting to use PayPal. Sent her the following:

I’m glad I checked found this site. I have a trailer for sale on Craigslist and have received email from “Derek Jones”. The last being this one:
Ok Good..I have understood the condition of the trailer,I’m
buying..!!as per the payment…i will be paying you with my verified
PayPal account,So you can send me your name and PayPal registered
email so i can pay in right away.i can’t really do the pick up now by
myself due to my nature of work..as i am a conversation biologist and
i don’t have much bucks around me.Make sure you get back to me so that
we can arrange for pick up as i will like the item to be picked by my
shipper, he will check it out also….!!!
Sounds exactly like ones you describe. I especially like the part about him being a “conversation” biologist. Is that the same as BSer? Thanks for helping me to not get taken.
Just received a txt from kent607@gmail.com asking if my car is still for sale on Gumtree and to reply to his / her / its, gmail account. Thought i would google his / her / its, e-mail address and low and behold, there it is, attempting to scam as many people as he / she / it, can.
I got the same one today too! SO glad for this blog! And Thank Google I checked it too. Seemed a bit odd to be so keen on a car he’d not even seen!!
another vote here for kent607@gmail.com, I really hope everyone he/she contacts has the common sense to google the email address and find this page, my car was posted on gumtree
Myelcaf myelcaf .first asking if the vehicle was still available.then emailing me from Kathy weathers.asking if I would take a pay Pal .she was interested on purchasing the car for her father.she said she was at sea with no reception only email available.she was a marine biologist.it sounded funny so I look into it I remember craigslist emailing me about scammers.I go back and read my email .yup kind of sounds like I can bei a victim of a situation.so then I google can I be scammed on Pay Pal .and thanks to this blog site I’m not a victim l.Sheehy whatever they are using first and last same initials kW for example story sounds familiar

Patrick Reymer (kent607@gmail.com) did the same as you have told us:
“Ok,good..I’m quite satisfied with the condition and price. I will need your home address for it to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company..”
I have just completed the Payment of the item and i am sure you have received the confirmation from PayPal regarding the Payment, you can check your paypal e-mail for confirmation of payment. I want you to send me your address so that the pick up can be arranged, the item would be picked up by the Courier Exchange Logistics Company which I’ve been using for a while and they’re very reliable. I made an extra payment €500 and i am sure you noticed that, you’ll have to send the extra amount to the Shipping Company through Western Union right away, so that they can come ahead for the pick up and also you should send your address where they have to come for the pick up and also the necessary Western Union Payment Information. I will need you to send the excess fund to my pick up agent Headquarters where they normally confirm any commission payment to via western union money transfer(this can be done from the post office, as they usually have a western union agent there). Here is my pick up agent Headquarter info needed to send the money through Western Union.

Guys its looks like Ana Isabel Vicente Zorita is still active as well on a car scam. Just got emailed when I was looking for a car on nettiauto.com (Finnish car site). They let on they are this Ana Isabel who actually is a person that really exists. They go on to give you a sob story that she has divorced and moved back to Spain with her kids. She has the car in Spain and cant sell it so is willing to send it back to Finland…..all this sounds quite plausible if you run a google search on her. Then they start to reel you in and ask you to contact the shipping company they are now getting in place for returning the car. The company mentioned is some GSC and they offer an email. They ask you to provide that company with your details and they say please use the ID of Ana Isabel (attached photo….which is an actual pic of her real ID but if you google again, this Ana Isabel was one of the first to get an electronic ID card in Spain and was photographed having it….its a zoom in on that pic)…..and then it comes…..please pay 50% now to secure the deal…ha! ha!
Anyway I wrote back and told them, did they know of Interpol and that the actual person was now informed….hope it makes them think again…
So guys, watch your wallets, your pics on the internet and remember Spain is in a recession!
Thank Guys, for informing us about the scam by this “Ana Isabel Vincente Zorita” who seems does the same melodrama story..the difference is, the car she wanted to sell was bought from our Country, Indonesia, thru online shopping…BMW 318i (2007), the price is IDR 68,100.000,- (approx USD 6,810). Actually, my friend who’s interested in buying the car, and fortunately he asked me to do some checking, and voila, I found the real story of that bastard Ana…
Watch out for csherz@gmail.com (Chris scherz) Another paypal scam.He almost got me until I really though why would a guy buy my car at full price and not want to look at it first.Ive seen this name/ email all over now as a paypal scammer.Would love to know how to combat this other then just complaining ti kijiji about it! Stay safe sellers!!
Thanks for the response, I’m seriously interested in this posted AD and i will really love to purchase it right away.Kindly put off the ad right away and consider me as your favorite buyer and I will have my shipper come over for the handling of the shipping down to my place after payment has been received. I will be making the payment through PayPal as paypal is safe and secured for transactions online, advice soon as I’m at sea at the moment as a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I’m buying this for my personal use, If this is acceptable kindly get back to me with your paypal email address and the details below so i can proceed with the payment. I can only pay through paypal at the moment as i do not have access to my bank account online, but i have it attached to my paypal account, and this is why i insisted on using paypal to pay all i will need is your paypal email address to make the payments, and if you do not have a paypal account yet,its pretty easy to set one up at http://www.paypal.com,i will be expecting your email.I will need this following details so i can proceed with the payment right away
Are you the first owner:
Your PayPal e-Mail Address:
full name:
What is your reason for selling it?
Address:
Last price
I’m sorry, just want to be sure about the sale before i proceed
Thank you

We just had a similar scam from a Frank Deby (frankdeby002@gmail.com) trying to purchase our car from craigslist. Email below, I’m so glad I researched this as PayPal seemed legit to me?
“Thanks for the swift response…I am willing to know the lowest price of it.due to the nature of my job and location…i will not be able to come for inspection,am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it.As for the payment..i will be paying you via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal).I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made and cleared to your account, transferring the name of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by the courier services company agent so you don’t have to worry about that…so no shipping included. You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply. If you don’t have a paypal account, you can easily set up one…log on to http://www.paypal.com. and sign up. its very easy.I await your reply asap”
I got the same email from this person. Same exact thing!! Thank God my PayPal wasn’t active anymore and it was going to take me 3 days to get it going. I asked him/her questions and they wouldn’t answer any of them. I ALMOST fell for it!!
So, I’ve just apparently had the same situation from kent607@gmail.com going by the name Patrick Reymer.
It seemed rather dodgy that he was wanting to buy my car without coming and looking at it. And the fact that he was going to get his ‘shipping company’ to pick it up…. really….
People need to get a life and stop screwing around with innocent people just trying to sell their stuff online.
So a note to anyone selling things online- don’t do it through paypal. Only accept a certified cheque/ bank draft or cash, especially for larger purchases.
And the cell number that he used was comping from Pennsylvania- area code 724.
Thanks! This landed a top google search! Ah, internet friends, what would us non-suckers do without you.
It happened the same with me. I was trying to sell a motor boat at http://funchal.olx.pt a site based in Portugal. An I am and the boat at Madeira Island, Portugal.
This Patrick Reymer (?), kent607@gmail.com (?) is apparently working worldwide.
I sent an email to spoof@paypal.com and they confirmed it was a phishing attempt.
I receive the same. Was triyng to sell a motorbike.
And have also received from:
Williams Scotties ~
best regards
A man messaged me saying he was in the us marine corps and was currently hospitalized but wanted to by my blackberry off me for his son and was going to pay 110 dollars extra for shipping plus the price listed. He wanted my pay pal account. Right after that another man messaged me saying he wanted to pay 550 for my blackberry bold 9900 i told him that the marine was offering me 700 for my phone which is ovbiously not the truth I was just going to see if he would match the price then for sure i would know its a scam. Indeed he did match it. he offered me 720 for a phone worth 300 dollars to apparently send to his daughter in western africa. All he wanted was me to ship it to her and my pay pal account so he could send me the money…. Please tell me both of these are obvious scams
Never send any items overseas through funds from paypal. It is unauthorize and paypal will simply refund the guy when they charge back the funds. Don’t do it. I got sacmmed from Japan for 2 gold bars I was selling on Ebay. Seller beware…
I’m trying to sell a truck right now and I’m shocked at how many of these scammer emails I get . So I figured I’d reply to one and agree to his proposal to see what actually happens . I had no intentions on actually givin him my truck .
So he said he sent me the money , I actually got a email that looked like it was from PayPal . I mean almost identical to what PayPal would send . And it has shipping info and all . But there is no recorded or anything when I actually log into my PayPal.
The scammer then emailed me , I told him the money isn’t in my PayPal yet . His response was that PayPal is holding the money …. Yeah right , but no actual record in my account …
Same thing just happened to me from deby frank

I have just been scammed through PayPal. Watchout for Arga Group or arga-club ru. All fake websites.
I managed to contact my bank in time to block it. But PayPal says it’s all a genuine transaction action. I never made any such transactions, they have hit my bank account and credit card for the same item.
Just received another bogus email given a receipt to some crap through PayPal. But my bank account has been shut down, so that will stop them.
I have sent the bogus emails to spoof@paypal.com.au but no replies, they don’t seem to care, just pay up. So stuff PayPal.
Got this email when trying to sell a used car, looks awfully similar to many posted on this thread:
Thanks for the prompt response.. I am ready to buy it now as a gift

So, I am selling a guitar on Kijiji for 1,200 and a guy messages me saying he will buy it (guitar unseen) for my asking price but I must use Paypal and once the money is in my account he will send a courier to pick up the guitar. Oh, and did I mention he is in Maylasia? He also seems to have a problem with telling me where he really lives, what he does, etc. I almost was going to do it but thanks to this page I feel sure that my gut instinct is correct. Thanks all!

I am so glad I found this blog. I listed my digital piano for sale on Craigslist and received an email from a “marine engineer” that was currently working off shore, but wanted to buy it as a surprise gift for someone and would have his shipper pick it up. He insisted on Paypal even after I responded multiple times that I would only accept cash. He was pushy and insistent and kept trying to assure me he was an honorable man. He gave the name of “Cody Hamford” and used two email addresses: codyhamford87@gmail.com and kpatric076@gmail.com. A few days later I received a similar email from someone named Paul Kamau, again with two email addresses: rightfromu9@yahoo.co.uk and markbeem0126@hotmail.com. Only posting in hopes of these emails turning up in a search if they try and scam someone else.
Yes, same scam. “Sandra Nguyen” wanting to buy my Macbook on Craigs via paypal, for a friend at the South African embassy. She of course works for the space station or some such. Bizarro.

Here is email from Daniel Walsh dan@daniwalsh.net
“confirm the receipt of your email and I am glad to know that the car is in good condition.
I have actually tried to get this car earlier but most of the ones I got either had one huge fault or the other while some have even had accidents in the past while the rest were really very exorbitant.
I am actually trying to get this car for my first son who will be adding a year to his age in about 2 weeks. So I think its worth paying whatever the shipping charges will be just to put a laughter on his face.
As to the price, the £5200 seems to be very reasonable. To seal this transaction in earnest, I will be very glad to make the payment asap through my PayPal account as I am currently offshore and I won’t definitely be able to make it to my bank to make bank transfer to you.
As to shipping, you need not worry yourself about how the car will get to me in Ireland as I will contact a shipping company here who will handle that.
Do get back to me asap with your PayPal Email address and Full name so that I can remit the payment asap.
Cheers,
Dan
So people becarefull you can be SCUM easy!!!

as I’m reading through these threads its amazing to me how similar these scams are. I have to believe there a thousands of people out there pulling this scam yet use very similar messaging.
I myself have had 3 separate situations trying to sell my motorcycle on Craigslist. eric.summer09@gmail.com, miketyl20@gmail.com and alicemithy@gmail.com.
I agree with the most of these comments as well as comments I’ve seen on other blogs – cash only and face to face are the best ways to ensure security.
the first one, Eric Summer I played along with to test the waters. I finally sent the following message and for some reason the inquires stopped from him…hmmm?!
I think there’s a problem with you email…your response below to my questions from this morning is the exact same response from your last email. I think your email must be stuck in a loop, almost like you’re not even getting my responses and your email server just keeps re-sending the same message. you should open a ticket with Google for your gmail account and have them check into that. Luckily this is just a trivial sales transaction and nothing important or life threatening. Although if this was a life threatening situation I would hope the you would use a phone and not email. a life threatening situation would require immediate responses and email is not the way to go, not even text messaging. I would imaging that on your ship, being out to sea and all, that they would certainly have some sort of satellite phone in the event of emergencies. Although, I heard satellite phone usage is really expensive. but then again, if it’s an emergency you don’t question that kind of thing I suppose you just focus on the emergency and do what needs to be done. But then again, if you’re in the military I’m sure there has to be some ship to shore communication system that wouldn’t cost you (as a service member) anything. I know that they even have those fancy, newfangled video conferencing systems now a days. When I was in, we didn’t have those. We had to use our SINGARS radio systems to transmit back to HQ and then have them radio back to a Navy or Air Force Sat-com outpost who in turn would make a call for us. phew…even just writing about it right now still amazes me that we didn’t lose more men in conflicts given the slowness of communication as compared to today
Speaking of satellites, did you know that the first Nintendo 64 gaming system had more computer processing power than the first space rocket used to send a man into space! that’s crazy! Oh man, how far have we come with technology today its amazing. Take this whole transaction for example, before I would have had to place an ad in the paper, which takes me time AND money, then I would have to rely on people buying that particular paper and searching the ads tediously (because those print ads were small) and then IF you found what you were looking for you would have to call my home phone and leave a message (if I was affluent enough to have an answering machine) and then I would finally call you back and then we’d have to schedule a time to meet to show off the goods (I guess that part isn’t too different than in the past) but still it could take days or even a week or so for us to get to that point. But not today! not with the modern marvel of the internet and email. Thank you Al Gore (I heard he invented the internet while in college)!
Anywho…sorry about that I guess I went off on a tangent a bit. So where were we? oh yeah, that’s right…the “item” and when you say “item” I think you’re referring to the motorcycle that I have for sale. I love face to face transactions particularly in selling something like my bike. I think you know what I mean, there’s just somehting about riding on the open road with the wind in your hair; somehting that most people who don’t ride don’t get or understand. So given your interest in my particular bike for sale, I’d say you have a keen eye for quality and performance and I would think that you are totally in agreement with the fact that you want to get to know the person who will be taking care of your “baby”. If you are in the military (I’m assuming at this point that you are since you’re out to sea), I take care of my brothers in arms (not to mention a brother with the same name)! So this is what I’m going to do for you my friend, I want to help you make this a special gift for your uncle so tell me where he lives and I will personally deliver the bike to him. I would love to see the look on his face (since you’re at sea and wouldn’t be there yourself I can take a picture and send it to you – as long as you get your email fixed). So why don’t you tell me where you’re uncle lives so I can plan on driving this over to him, since setting up the paypal will only take 3 minutes and you sending me the money should take about the same amount of time, I want to make sure that we get this gift to your uncle as soon as possible. So let me know where he lives and I’ll Mapquest it and plan my trip. Although, if its too far, as much as I’d love to help a brother out I may have to reconsider. But I suppose if you were going to have a pick up agent get this item it can’t be too far. Heck, I’m up for a road trip anyway. I’ve got a couple buddies that have been dying to get our bikes up on the open road and cruise. We can make a road trip out of it and I can enjoy one last ride on her before she becomes your uncles. Oh, that reminds me, should I put your name or your uncles name on the title (I have that in hand and legally have to sign it over to the buyer) so is that you or your uncle?
Anyway, let me know. I look forward to hearing back from you. I’m starting to feel a connection between us. Not in a weird way but in a way I guess that’s like two military buddies reconnecting and hanging out sipping on some sweat tea on the front porch reminiscing about the old days. heck, maybe once you get back to shore, we’ll get a chance to meet and when eventually get a new bike your uncle can join the biker gang I’m in. Well, its not really a “gang” in the sense of like drugs, gun running, robberies and shit like that. more like just a bunch of old dudes who have a common interest in riding and drinking beers. I guess that probably makes it more like a fraternity than a gang. HAHA, maybe we should start our own fraternity like in that move Old School! “Blue you’re my boy!” LOL…oh that movie brings tears to my eyes from laughing so hard. Oh, that’s some good stuff right there. phew…well Eric I have to get going. looking forward to hearing back from ya!
You stay classy San Diego (which is Spanish for a whales vagina)!
Peace Out!
E-dog (that’s what my buddies call me – I think you and I are there now. so you can call me E-dog if you like)
Just a heads up if anyone is interested in knowing exactly where this would have gone from there. If he would have sent his paypal ID the scammer would have sent a fake email looking to be from paypal that shows that a payment has been received. Of course if you then go check your paypal account there will be no pending transactions of any sort.
These specific scammers just hope that their fake email does the trick for them.
I’ve been through this specific scam many times and usually provide my paypal ID just so I can receive the fake payment received email and send it to paypal’s fraud center. It has never done anything for me but at least I feel I tried to do something.
I’ve dealt with these foreign scam artists many times as a stupid kid. Even to the point of receiving a FAKE US Treasury check (looked exactly like what you get with your tax returns) and was questioned by a secret service agent in person about it.
Beware, always check and double check everything and always remember: If it’s too good to be true, it isn’t true!
Man am I glad I googled this! same bs with a guy named Andrew Dean wanting to pay us with paypal for our mower? Is there anyway to turn these people in!
Been watching these comments for a while as i was skeptical about an email i received saying exactly the same as another poster, i was selling my samsung galaxy s4 on gumtree for £465 and was offered £550 for postage to another country, so i gave him my paypal email , received the funds and withdrew them, kept the phone and sent a box of ryvita spelling F U C K Y O U S C A M M E R on each cracker haha
so far £550 up 😀
Yep, a woman in West Africa wants my shoes! her email is theresaohle@gmail.com. Dont listen to her, she is a scammer!!
Hi . I had read all the comment on this blog.. im selling my ipad air in olx.com here in philippines .the day I post my item from that site I receive am email from this woman. She said she is interested with the iPad and willing to pay for the price I posted. And going to give additional 5k for the shipping fee. She said she will be giving the iPad to her late friend son living in south Africa. And she ask me to delete my post on That website and consider her as the buyer bcoz she is real interested on my item..she ask for my bank account number and name of the bank. So I Gabe it to her. AFTER 2 days she get back to me and telling me that she do the money transfer via PayPal and PayPal will transfer the money to my bank account once I shipped the item to the address she gave me. And I also receive an email from service-care@in.com saying that this woman send 57k to my bank account and they can only transfer the money to my bank account once I email the the transaction number and details of the shipping of the item.. this service-care@in.com saying that they are PayPal. They want me to shipped my item first bfore transferring the money to my account.. so I Google search.. and I found out that PayPal do not use any other email..i forward their email to me at spoof@paypal.com to verify if it’s real. And PayPal response telling me that it was a phishing email.. fake email.
Thanks God I search..or else I lost my iPad air
