05/2007 – present     EdgeLink Consulting, Partner and Consultant

l  Established a local computer service and consulting business, formalizing over nine years of technology repair and support experience.

l  Current specializations include networking, custom software development and home theatre consulting.

l  Work involves collaboration with key business and community partners.

 

05/2007 – 12/2007    Research in Motion, Tools Developer – BIS Project Management

l  Developed an application framework in PHP/MySQL which hosted applications for upcoming product trials, internal lessons learned surveys and version tracking.

l  Managed a small departmental SharePoint/Project Server 2007 farm. Created custom page templates and web components, and supported system users.

l  Wrote and maintained existing functional tools, using Visual Basic 2005, for automated statistics collection and generation. Replaced Excel macros with more powerful standalone utilities.

 

01/2006 – 12/2006    IBM, Information Developer – WebSphere Development Studio Client

l  Created tutorials, application samples and tours to highlight new product features. Worked with reviewers from IBM US to ensure content met technical guidelines and exceeded quality certification benchmarks.

l  Contributed core Java navigation code for System i technical content. Documented procedures to allow other information developers to easily add their own reference material.

l  Managed several Apache HTTP server and Eclipse Infocenter installations for department reference. Updated product tutorials, samples and documentation while working remotely.

 

06/2004 – 09/2005    Maplesoft, Marketing Assistant – Programs Marketing

l  Deployed and managed marketing campaigns with targeted audiences of over 60,000 contacts.

l  Involved with all aspects of the promotional Maple Adoption Program, including updating customer databases and migrating data to a membership-based website.

l  Developed several PHP/SQL Server and Java applications for data extraction and subscription management. These applications are continually used as a part of the company's ongoing business.

SKILLS

 

Development: Substantial experience with Java, PHP, Visual Basic versions 6 and 2005, and JavaScript. Basic exposure to C/C++ and C#. Significant ability with Eclipse Platform and plug-in programming, including SWT user interfaces.

 

Source Control: Wide range of exposure to source control software and processes, including Subversion, CVS and CMVC.

 

Web Technology and Databases: Complex knowledge of XHTML and CSS. Excellent understanding of XML. Experience developing applications using AJAX technologies.

 

Databases: High level of experience with MySQL. Proficient with standard SQL syntax. Working knowledge of Oracle 9i and SQL Server.

 

Operating Systems: Advanced aptitude with all Windows versions, specifically 2000, XP, 2003 Server and Vista. Considerable experience with Mac OS X 10.4/10.5 and various Linux distributions. Functional ability with IBM i5/OS.
